How did you get started in the events industry?
I asked Steph if I could work for her to see if I liked it my sophomore year of college and spent the summer interning for JR Global Events. Since recently graduating I came back to the industry.
What was it like over the past 2 years during covid for you personally and professionally?
It was, at first, very difficult. I was in my senior year of college in 2020. I was “sent home” (I had a house off campus) from school during spring break which I have always spent at practice because I was on my University’s DII Track and Field team as a thrower. I was set to break the school record that spring in Hammer throw and didn’t even have the opportunity to try. It felt like my life was ripped out from under me and I had to move to fully online schooling for the last two months of my college career. I never had a graduation; I finally took pictures when my sister graduated two years later from the same school.
Since graduating I have made three cross country moves. I went out and nannied and worked in Los Angeles, CA for about six months before deciding it wasn’t for me and I moved back home to PA. And six months following moving home and working for a CPA firm I packed everything up and moved to Orlando, FL to work for Walt Disney World because why not? It has been a wild time these last two years for sure.
What did you learn about yourself and the industry?
The events industry is resilient, people still found ways to meet virtually, and the software was ready to help back them up. Now as for myself, that remains a mystery even to me. SO much has happened in my life in the last two years that I’m not sure that I have fully processed everything yet. I guess I’ve learned that I am also resilient and able to adapt to drastic changes in the world…
What would you do if you were NOT in the events industry?
My ultimate goal is to produce films. Jenn and Steph have graciously accepted me under their wings to lean the ins and outs of the events industry while I do some soul searching.
What do you do in your spare time?
In my spare time I am working part time at Walt Disney World in park operations. I am a First Order Lieutenant at Rise of the Resistance. In the time I am not doing either job, I am usually making some kind of craft, tending to my plants, or just watching the endless amount of shows I always need to “catch up” on.
