I never played in an orchestra…but I think I can imagine how a musician feels at the close of a major concert. The hard work that goes into preparation and practice…leading to the nervous buildup as the crowd gathers on opening night…then the adrenaline rush of the actual performance, as you marvel at how everyone seamlessly contributes to the delicate melodies… which gives way to satisfaction and pride as the orchestra ends its performance and basks in the applause and gratitude of the crowd…and finally, to the inevitable “letdown” as the orchestra members pack their bags at the end of the final evening, glancing around at the empty room and fondly remembering the magic that they had been a part of making. It was a thrill and a pleasure to be surrounded by such talented and dedicated individuals…we made beautiful music together!
